All praise be to Allah who alone sustains the world. Exalted salaah and complete salaam be on our Master Muhammad saw.gif (955 bytes) and his family and his companions.

Islamic Shariah Institute: Brief Introduction

"Invite (mankind) to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching and reason with them in the best manners possible" (Sura Al-Nahl 16, Ayah 125)

The Islamic Shariah Institute is a charitable organisation established to cater for the religious and educational needs of the Ummah of the Holy Prophet Mohammad saw.gif (955 bytes). It aims to initiate revival and establish the comprehensive Islamic way of life based on the Quran and Sunnah as understood by the Sahabah, Tabieen, Tab Tabieen, the Mujtahid Imams and the pre-eminent Ulama of this Ummah.

The 20th century has seen a great geographical change to the Islamic world that our religious ancestors lived in. We no longer have the neat dividing line of East and West. Many Muslims find themselves living as minorities in predominantly non-Islamic countries. Hence, as Muslims, it is necessary for us to have a deeper and clearer understanding of our deen and its origin. It is vital for us to provide a good, well-balanced, well-resourced Islamic education for young Muslims if they are to be successful in this life and the next, Insha Allah

The Islamic Shariah Institute is committed to carrying the scholarly legacy of the Ulama and the spiritual, ethical, moral values of Islam to the Muslims of today. Its endeavour is to become a reference for mainly English speaking Muslims and a valuable source of authentic Islamic material (in various media).

It was in this spirit under the guidance of Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq that the Islamic Shariah Institute was established in Birmingham in 1995.

Counselling

TOP

The ISI has been responding and attending to needs of a more individual nature and has been offering counselling, spiritual guidance and moral advice in light of the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet of Allah saw.gif (955 bytes) to many Muslims globally.

Literature

TOP

  • The ISI distributes a vast selection of titles on Islamic issues covering a wide range of subjects aimed at remedying many of the problems prevalent in todays society.

  • The ISI is involved in the translation and publication of books in the English language.

  • The Salah of a Believer in the Quran and Sunnah by Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq. The book has been widely circulated and free copies have been distributed to many of the universities, to needy Muslims, and to other public institutions. It is a truly unique and original piece of work in any language and was written as a result of many appeals by sincere Muslims ranging from scholars to laymen who felt an urgent need for the book to be written. The book has been widely accepted and we hope that you will also take benefit from this monumental work.

Expansion

TOP

As the activities of Islamic Shariah Institute have grown, a greater need arose to purchase a property for the above work. Many of the above activities take place at different locations and under difficult circumstances.

The search for a suitable building began and a former childrens home has been purchased as it was found to be the most ideal base for the work of the Institute. The building has been closed for many years and requires much time, effort and finance for its restoration and its newfound purpose.

Insha-allah, once the renovation of this building is complete (see picture on the front page) not only will all current activities be centred at one location, but this will also open up the possibility for further projects, such as the following:

  • A new comprehensive Library.

  • A place for learning

  • In the field of learning a planned syllabus for ilmyaat classes such as Arabic, Aqeedah, fiqh, Hadeeth, History and Quranic Sciences.

  • A much needed advice centre for religious and social problems such as drug and alcohol abuse, and family guidance.

  • A relief programme aimed at vulnerable Muslims around the globe.

  • Further Internet projects.

  • Home Study courses and much more, inshallah.

  • As a long-term objective an Islamic school with the teaching of secular subjects will also be established to cater for the needs of our children. Insha-allah!

'The parable of those who spend their property in the way of Allah is as the parable of a grain growing seven ears (with) a hundred grains in every ear; and Allah multiplies for whom He pleases; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing. (2:261)

The target Figure of 200, 000 pounds has been set. This figure includes the cost of purchasing, renovating, and establishing the new property.

It is imperative that each of us gives our full commitment to this noble task, which will benefit each and every one of us, our families and many other Muslims for generations to come. Insha-allah.

We would like to stress that we are non-profit making organisation, and the work we do is independent of external funding, and is solely being run by the distribution of the authentic material we supply, and donations that are forwarded by sincere Muslims. Our predominant motive is to spread the true and beautiful message of this deen in the manner that has been shown to us by the Prophet Muhammad saw.gif (955 bytes) and our pious predecessors, and to ensure that these examples are presented in the best possible manner, inspiring spiritual strength and instruction for those who wish to follow their example, Insha-Allah.

'Surely they who recite the Book of Allah and keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them secretly and openly, hope for a gain which will not perish.' (35:29)

May Allah (SWT) bless us all with the opportunity and ability to work for His deen (ameen).

All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the best of His creations, Muhammad saw.gif (955 bytes) and on his family and companions.
